Blue glazed red earthenware bowl

 

A large thrown bowl with decorative tile edging attached with coloured tiling cement.

It has a copper pigment in a crazed alkaline glaze. The glaze pools deep in the centre in thick pitted glass absolutely terrific.

 

The approach is un-mannered and direct, the finish underneath straight from the wheelhead.

The border tiles are from a collection of naturally pigmented glazes.

The bowl is approximately 18 inches across.

Don't leave outside or soak for long periods in water.
